Creative visualisation is a technique used to visualise the perfect life so that you can then go out and achieve it. Creative visualisation has been used by many successful people including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Oprah Winfrey and Lindsey Vonn to help them achieve success.

But you don’t have to be rich or famous to use creative visualisation. In fact, you can carry out some basic visualisation exercises now in the comfort of your own home. The only thing you need is the desire to improve yourself and the ambition and confidence to go out there and try something new.

How does creative visualisation work?

Creative visualisation techniques have been in use for millennia. Aristotle was one of the first people to write about the technique, over 2,000 years ago. Aristotle described the technique as follows; “First, have a definite, clear, practical ideal; a goal, an objective. Second, have the necessary means to achieve your ends: wisdom, money, materials, and methods. Third, adjust all your means to that end.”

The basic premise of the technique is that you can’t achieve a life goal if you have no idea what it looks like. And if it doesn’t physically exist, you don’t know what it looks like unless you use your imagination to create it. When you visualise the desired outcome, you begin to see that it is attainable, making it easier to go out and achieve it.

How can creative visualisation help me?

Creative visualisation techniques can help you achieve almost anything, from succeeding in business to improving your sporting success. In fact, almost anything is possible using the technique. That's why positive visualisation techniques are often used by top sportsmen and women around the world. They visualise winning the gold medal, which makes it easier for them to put in the hard work to go on and achieve it.

It's important to remember, however, that no visualisation exercise can give you what you desire on its own. It's not a substitute for hard work and endeavour; you must still have the drive and ambition to carry out the work required to achieve the life you want to achieve. But they can at least point you in the direction you need to go.
